Trav, what do you think? I hate to say it, but why isn’t this doctor working harder on this for people who have had Lyme for years? There are so many brilliant people who seem to understand this. Why don’t we have a good treatment yet?
I guess a lot of it has to do with the government, but COME ON.

Well, I personally have read about 3 different tests that have been developed that were very good at detecting Lyme disease, and the gov't has refused to give their 'blessings' to go forward with it. That's why we are still stuck with the ELISA, which misses at minimum 50% of those that are positive for Lyme (because they only test for ONE out of at least 16 strains that are KNOWN to cause human illness, and over 100 known strains). So, yep, it's pretty much the gov't that's stopping better testing. One test that I'm aware of, the developer was willing to raise the money themselves to promote and put the testing 'device' into every doctors office in the US - but couldn't get the approval of the gov't to go forward with it. That's how set the gov't is about not allowing EFFECTIVE tests to be brought forward.
And I just have to say, even though some of the language isn't what I'd usually use, I DO agree!!!

Ugh, the testing! How ridiculous! The news is getting out there, but the government is foiling us at every turn.

Ugh, the testing! How ridiculous! The news is getting out there, but the government is foiling us at every turn. Well, not at every turn, but at every turn to get it recognized and accepted, and treated properly. That's enough though, right? What they haven't been able to foil is individuals helping other individuals. They haven't been able to stop us from finding ways to heal, despite their efforts either. I won't give up or give in to anyone's pressure, and I know I'm not alone. It will take time, but we will win - why? Perseverance. We don't have a choice -but they will tire of this game, eventually.
