The back arthritis is getting worse. Any suggestions for good sandals and shoes for back pain? I just read this in my search for shoes. I really don’t want to have to wear running shoes all of the time. I just ordered a pair of Keen rose sandals to try them out, but my last Keen shoes ended up pushing on my big toes so badly after a mile that I still have blood blisters under neath my toenails. That was months ago! I was so mad! Now I’m living in Birkenstocks and Nike flip flops, but I doubt I could try walking for miles in them. I need some exercise, but my back is killing me. www.runnersworld.com/health-injuries/a20792002/runners-and-lyme-disease/

For me, it's about superior support and a one inch heal. Every shoe I wear must have that one inch heal, or I REALLY pay for it with pain for days after being on my feet for more than an hour if I don't have the right height of heel. So goofy! But, I don't want the pain, so I obey!! LOL!
The only shoes I really wear are 'running shoes'/'tennis shoes' and my 'work boots' though. I do have a pair of very carefully selected heals for the odd occasion where I ACTUALLY WEAR a dress - but that's really not that often at all! LOL! I'm a 'jeans and T-shirt' person.
I've never found a pair of sandals that I could really wear long because of that. Those 'flats', as they are called, are the WORST for my back - and yet I can go barefoot all day and not have issues, so I"m not sure what's really going on. Maybe it's the different surfaces that I'm standing on when I'm in flats and going barefoot??? I'll have to watch more closely, although I no longer try to wear flats!

I actually found a pair of orthopedic sandals from ABEO from The Walking Company that might work. I think the style is Bliss. I wore them for hours on Friday. I still had some lower back pain at the end of the day, but I don’t think it was as bad as usual. I also got a pair of the Mystic style, but those definitely won’t work for long days. I’m also really disappointed with Keen shoes and sandals. I have a friend who swears by them. I’ve tried two different pairs, and both have been very painful.
I have some of the Birkenstock sandals that are made out of that foamy croc type material, and they work pretty well for ordinary days.
I just hate athletic shoes unless I’m doing something athletic! I need comfortable shoes for weddings and funerals, you know?

Dress shoes? Boy, that's where I really suffer! I have to have a 'blocky' heel and only one inch height - those can be hard to find, especially since we ladies have so many colors and styles to wade through!
I did go take a look though, and did find some nice shoes that I would be interested in even! I'd love to know what you think of the 'wear-ability' and quality after you've worn them a time or two, if you wouldn't mind/ can remember(LOL)?

The Abeo Mystics are really cute and aren’t too bad. I’ve been wearing them for a couple of days, and I still have back pain, but not as much as when I wear shoes with no support. They’re better than the Nike flip flops which I wear around the house and are much prettier too. They don’t look like orthopedic shoes which is nice!
