Okay, so I want to start a little group check in for exercising!! LOL! I know that many of us deal with exercise intolerance (I did for many years!) and so this will be a different kind of exercising for those that can't actually get out and exercise much at all.
While there will be different levels of 'tolerance' to the exercises, and so people will be a different levels, I see no reason we can't only encourage progress, no matter where a person is at the moment!! If you are like me, you hate exercising anyway, and posting about it is hard - but this is NOT a competition!! I hope we can all come together to encourage each other though!
So, the main type of exercising I get (other than housework, LOL) is walking. We have a treadmill (from hubby having surgeries and needing to walk to recover), and our road isn't safe to walk on, so I use that. I like using a treadmill because I can keep myself from hurting myself more often!! LOL! I have a set speed (don't have to rely on what I think I'm doing!LOL), and I know immediately how far I've made it - without having to turn around and make it back home!! LOL!!!! I also need a flat surface to walk - my balance still isn't fully recovered from having these infections. Falling on my face is something I'm trying to leave behind.
My daughter has been trying to get me into chair yoga. Boy, that was NOT something I was interested in!! LOL! But, come to find out, it fits in pretty well with what I'm trying to do for my body - to rebuild slowly and to encourage it to function well on it's own. This seems to be a good next step. Anyone out there game to try this with me?? Again, it's not about how much you can do compared to anyone else, it's how well you do compared to last time, or a week ago, or a month ago!
I started walking (and had trouble sticking to it with the holidays!!), but I am finally where I am walking at 3 miles an hour for a solid half mile. No big deal, right? Well it is if you understood I started out only being able to walk at 2.5 mph for 5 minutes before everything started cramping up!! So, progress that I'm proud of!! Even hubby has noticed the treadmill being used regularly!!! Now - that's not to say that I'm walking daily though! My goal is 3 - 5 times a week, depending on how my body is doing, what activities I have to complete for the day and so on. But, I'm starting to really meet that goal regularly!! Yeah me!!! LOL!!!
So, here is one chair yoga video that I have started using - boy, it's a challenge for me!! Those muscles do NOT like that! But, as this wonderful lady keeps reminding us, only do what you can.
