I fell so awful at this moment...I barely have the energy to type...I just want to fall asleep and never wake up...C diff and now this...
The last 24 hours have been awful...My symptoms have gone through the roof....I don't know if I am herxing or getting sicker or a 2nd infection is kicking in while my immune system is weak.... How do I fight this....I want to scream....
I feel so ill I could not attend one of my best friend's moving party today. They are moving to NC in a few weeks...He was the best man at our wedding and I missed their party...I should have been there...This GD illness....
My wife had to deal with c diff and now she has to deal with this....I feel so guilty.....
I am usually a positive person, but right now I feel defeated and quite frankly scared to death....
Sorry, I am venting to people who have suffered a lot more than I have, but I cracked tonight....

You are allowed to vent! I think I would have gone crazy when I was a mess last week!
Even the most positive people have bad days, especially with this stupid disease, so give yourself a break.
You missed out on a huge event that you've probably been looking forward to for weeks if not months. That's a BIG deal. It's so disappointing when those things happen to me. It's been happening more and more, and each time I lose more hope. I've been thinking about all of the things that I have planned for the future, and last week I felt like I was going to lose them all. Here I am a week later, and I'm not great, but I'm better than I was last week!
Get over the guilt about your wife. She loves you. You told me so last week. We chose these people, and they chose us, for better or for worse. Your wife is amazing and will stick with you. I know it.
I know men are taught by our society not to cry, but do it. If you can't cry in front of your wife, go into the shower. If you're too weak to actually shower, go in there, turn on the water, and sit on the toilet and cry. That's what I do if my kids and husband are around.
Hang in there, Buddy! You are not alone!

Also, if I'm "liking" a post, it's not always that I actually like it. I'm just doing that so that you'll be notified that I responded. Sometimes I don't see responses right away. I want you to know I'm here.

Actually, Acres - I think you are talking to the people you need to be talking to right now! We can more than understand the defeating feelings that come along with these infections and how they impact our lives! I surely didn't plan on being at home all day long, working on a Lyme forum and my own healing!! I had plans of college, a career, and more. Just having 2 kids nearly killed me - and yet I'm very grateful to have both of them in my life - maybe more so than some that didn't nearly die in trying to bring children into this world? What I do know is that we DO understand and we are here for you. None of this is easy, but by the same token, there is nothing saying that you won't get back to living your life again. While chronic Lyme patients may not ever be cured, we do get back to being functional and in remission for years at a time. With the right support (whatever weak areas your body has, plus immune support) we can usually stay symptom free or at least be on top of things when they do happen. But, the hard part is it's all one step at a time. I married my current hubby while very sick and realized that even though I had no idea what I had, I would be this way forever - and he was okay with that! My previous husband was not, and neither was any of my family (other than my own kids). You have a very wonderful wife - just be sure that she knows you know this!! You don't really have to do a lot, just be sure to verbalize how much you appreciate her and her attitude on this. The other thing you should realize is that these infections can and do have control over us and our emotions - depression, anxiety, depersonalization/derealization - these can all be made worse by these infections or these infections can bring them on completely by themselves. I do my best to stay positive because I'm mainly hurting myself if I'm not (I hate the way I feel when I'm not in a positive mood) - but that surely doesn't mean that I too haven't gone through some wicked depression, anxiety levels through the roof and more. It's not about what level of any given symptom we deal with - it's that we deal with the same symptoms, and can understand how it feels and how it can impact our family that lives with us. Hang in there and vent away!! I think most of us agree with your disdain for these infections!!!!

From what I know its Bart. I have had it for a few yrs. This last episode was for a week ish. Ive had it go for 2 weeks and it was super painful. From what I feel its not actually in the throat its in between the skin and adams apple/throat. Possibly lymph.

Hi acres!-
Randy mentioned about the possibility of your lymph nodes.
Here is a YouTube video for lymph node massage that you can try. Please start out slowly so you don't release too many toxins too fast.
I hope this helps.

Hi acres, so sorry you're having such a hard time! I've also been struggling these past few days , that's why I haven't been on here! Anyway, I think I had more I wanted to say to you ,but my brain is just NOT working ...Sorry! It probably wasn't important anyway...
I keep having trouble responding to posts because once I start writing mine I can no longer see the other persons. Not sure if this is just how it is in this forum or if it's just me...
Oh! About the sore throat- I think it depends on what's causing it... but if it's like a 'coming down with something ' feeling sometimes I put a couple drops of cinnamon essential oil in warm water & drink it like tea for a sore throat. You just have to make sure it's an "edible" quality product.
You could do the same with clove oil - or use it in a gargle- same thing though- it's gotta be an essential oil specifically made to be edible. * just a warning, not sure if you use EO's ( if you do, please ignore my warning!) so...when you put EO's in plain water they aren't diluted by it. For some people that might be ok, but if you're sensitive or still getting used to them you might want to add olive or ( warm) coconut oil to your EO prior to mixing it with water. You'll still have to stir a lot to keep the oils from just floating on top. The last thing you need is to get 'burnt' by a straight essential oil when you're already feeling so ill!
I also use Agricept-L, about 10 drops in water 3x a day . I use it this way for candidia, but have noticed it relieves my sore throats also. It's worked for me when I really thought nothing would. If you try it & have candidia issues , beware that it could cause die-off...
Hope you find something that helps , even a little bit! And know that I'm thinking of you, even though I'm a bit ( understatement , haha) spacey right now..

Thank you all ! My head is spacey as well....About 10 times I was going to reply here to someone and my head went blank..It is very annoying.... I have never used an EO but will give it a try....I get sore throats very often but usually they last for several days. I pounce on them with salt water gargling...But this one started 4 days after the tick bite and is still here.... I tried the lymph massage once and nothing seemed to happen...I try check out your link and try again....My lymphs in my neck just under my jaw always seem to be slightly enlarged....Been to doctors over the years, been tested and sent on my way....
My sore throat is on the top of the area just behind my tonsils...It gets red and white..... There is nothing to help if it is bart ? ouch....
Today I went through 2 foot bathes, drank lemon water, brushed my body before taking a shower and boy did I get a headache....I have been getting headaches for years (doc told me they are tension headaches as I am a high strung person who also has anxiety issues). Had to take my Fiorocet tonight....Also helped my sore throat...figures, but I cannot take it often. It is very addicting and I already take Xanax 25 to help me sleep....

Hey acres, I am so sorry, when I mentioned the things I do for a sore throats I had totally forgotten about your previous c-diff! I'm not sure you should try any of them without talking to someone more knowledgeable about c-diff & your particular situation. Sorry again. Hope you find something that helps.
I should've known better than to respond to anybody's posts yesterday with my brain being so foggy...

By the way, am I totally nuts, or is sore throat w/ red& sometimes white patches ( and swollen lymph nodes) in the area discribed usually indicative of strep throat?
I know you said it began a few days after the tick bite, but I wonder if the Lyme could've hit your immune system & therefore prevented you from keeping the strep at bay?
As you know now, my brain isn't working so well, so maybe I'm wrong, I just used to get strep ALOT as a kid ( maybe cause I had Lyme then too, haha) and I always remember the docs looking in my mouth for red & white ...
I don't know, just a thought!

Hi, I sure hope it is not strep....My doc dismissed it as a virus yesterday (even said no lyme - and that is after I should him the bite area that is still red after 4 weeks).....Good thing I also see an Integrative doctor and herbalist.... I keep thinking about strep as well....Might go to an Urgent care and get tested for strep....No fever though so it's odd.....Could be a co infection from the bite....but I cannot get rid of it.....
Thinking about taking a chance with c diff and taking oil of oregano or a full course of doxy or a z pack.... Scott

Wow, sorry you're going through all this! I hate when doctors are dismissive like that... Glad you have another doc also! I would guess the throat thing could also be from Lyme & co... it's gotten to the point that I think almost anything could be from Lyme & co... haha I just thought I'd mention the strep thing just incase it could be something 'easy' - I'm sure nothing's easy after c-diff though!

Hi, yes c diff is not fun, but I am thinking lyme is even worse....At least with diff you know what you are up against, there are only a few abx or fecal transplant to treat....and even if you relapse it is still the same thing....The horror of c diff is the fear of needing an abx...
But this ....No definite diagnosis, doctors are dismissive...Herbal treatment not covered by insurance, the symptoms are all over the place...
I drank lemon water, did the foot bath and became overwhelmed with exhaustion...Took a nap, when I woke up I felt like death warmed over....I drank ginger tea and started to feel better....It lasted about 2 hours.... Feeling better now....That was bizarre..... I have to fight and stay positive.....
Off to my antioxidant iv appt. tomorrow.... Not sure if it helps, they pump you full of vitamins, minerals and some other immune system strengthening formula....Can't think of the names at the moment...
I pray you feel better soon, Scott

Before you treat with antibiotics, make sure it's strep! One of my sons just got tested for strep and mono a few weeks ago at an immediate care place, but it was just a virus too. I was so happy that they could test him and get the results so quickly. My sis-in-law (a nice one, not the annoying one...lol!) used to have a chronic throat infection with a white spot in the back of her throat. She was just told to gargle with salt water repeatedly because it wasn't anything serious, just annoying. I think she could clean it out with a long q-tip with something on it too. I'm not sure if I already told you this, but I usually start out with warm, organic chicken broth for gargling. That way I can just drink it, and it doesn't taste so gross. So many things make me vomit, and sometimes I just can't gargle with salt water without getting sick. I really can't believe the doctor still says it's not Lyme with a red bite area after 4 weeks. That's making me kind of mad! How can he possibly know that?

Oh, also, my family practitioner told me years ago to make sure to change toothbrushes A LOT. I go even farther than that. I put ours in the dishwasher after each use, or if we're on vacation I either run it under really hot water (or a boiling cup of water if you have a microwave in the room) or pour Listerine on it.

Hi, I change mine about once a year ! lol...I guess that's going to have to change !
My sinuses went crazy the past several days....And that annoying sore throat just won't go away.... I feel my doc's, even the integrative doc office isn't taking me seriously at this point...Only the herbalist seems to have compassion.... I was getting my iv and the np came in, asked how I felt, I told her the truth, and she just said I looked better and walked out....
Problem for me with non traditional methods is they are not covered by insurance and we cannot afford big bills out of pocket..... I think I will go to urgent care and ask for a throat culture....I do not have a fever. Wouldn't I have one with strep ?
My big fear is the throat issue is some nasty co infection that no one will test for....It almost seems like doctors are paid by insurance companies not to test you unless you have extreme symptoms....
I am getting very close to purchasing oregano oil.... Scott

Hi acres!-
I am so sorry to hear about your sinuses and the sore throat that you still have. I was hoping that at your doctor appointment, they would have looked into your sore throat issues more. Especially since you have had this going on with no relief. Maybe try a neti pot for your sinuses?
"np came in, asked how I felt, I told her the truth, and she just said I looked better and walked out." Really?? She sounds like she was a lot of help! I can't tell you how many times that I went to doctors looking for answers. Majority of the time I would have been better staying at home and talking to a wall.
If you decide to go to urgent care for a throat culture, I hope that they will be able to help you. Sometimes, we still have to go to regular doctors to rule out other possible infections. If you do have some sort of infection in your throat, this could be the cause of your sinuses flaring up. It is all connected and part of the respiratory system.
I tested positive for Lyme. I was clinically diagnosed with Bartonella and Babesia. I have heard of some LLMDs and people treating themselves for all of these even if they didn't have a positive test result. The tests for these infections are really cr*ppy and not reliable.
Some people purchase Buhner's Lyme books and heal themselves using herbs. They also treat themselves for Bart and Babs.

On your experience with the lemon water and foot bath - that's a typical herx reaction. Glad it didn't last long. It may be that your water was too hot or you kept your feet in the water for too long, or you used too much Epsom salts for you right now. I went through that as well. I couldn't keep my feet in the water more than 5 minutes when I first started using foot soaks. You likely have leaky gut with the C-diff and these infections on top of that, so the antioxidant IV is a good idea - that way it bypasses the gut and you get the nutrients you otherwise might not get or not get enough of. And a note on the sore throat - Bartonella causes sore throats. You can also look to see if you have what is known as tonsil stones - they can make your throat sore too, I used to get them a lot: Tonsil stones I used to use a Qtip coated very lightly with coconut oil to push them out - but do be very, very careful!!!!! Those are very delicate tissues!!!
