Hi, Does anyone spray their lawn/property with a tick insecticide...We have some property and a camp site...I want to spray in the future. Is there anything in the market that is safe for people and pets ? I have been on google reading about certain products and was wondering if anyone here has some positive experiences with a spray ? I've been using granule insecticide for years - I just like it better. I use Bug-Be-Gone from Ortho. With the granules, a little rain will "melt" the granules and once dry, it's safe for pets and kids (I've called them about this, and that's what I was told). With the spray, once it's dry, it will no longer be an irritant to skin on pets or people.
It works really well for ticks and fleas, works better than anything else on those darned chiggers and even mosquitoes and other pests. The only place that doesn't get it used in the areas we are regularly in, is my garden....that's kept free from chemicals, and any rain water that falls, because of the layout of our property, it won't get to the garden.

Do you use it in the spring? We are headed into cold weather here in Michigan, does that make a difference with ticks?

I use it 2 or 3 times a year, Spring, early Summer and late Summer - when the ticks are bad like they have been the last 3 years here because of very mild winters. During years that we have only "light" issues with ticks, fleas and such, I may only use it 2 times - early Spring, and mid Summer.
