One of my doctors just sent me this and asked me to sign and share it. He is from India, and this will help his immigration petition. I desperately need this doctor! He is kind and compassionate, and he really knows what he’s doing. He’s helped me so much with my sleep issues. I can’t believe he and his family have to worry about immigration. It's really sad when people that don't look like us, or are not born in the same area scare people. I have a different take on this, since I have freckles. Yep, those lovely little spots on my skin mean that I'm further from the "basic, white American" genetically. Even further away than someone that was born with much darker skin!!
To discriminate against someone based on where they were born or the color of their skin is just plain wrong. Denying them the means they need in order to participate in their profession is also wrong. Imagine if all doctors were treated like that - then we would have an uprising. Unfortunately, I don't think that this country is ready for a lot of things, and maybe doctors from another country may be one of them.
I say this with tears in my heart, because it was a doctor with a VERY heavy Chinese accent that saved me. I would not be alive today if not for an immigrant doctor.
