Hi Traveler!
You've talked before about taking courses from the Herbal Academy, and I've been thinking about doing so, myself. I wondered if you would be willing to share some feedback about your progress so far and your likes and dislikes. Thanks!

Hi Nosila!!! It's so good to hear from you again! I hope you are doing well! Honestly, I don't have many dislikes about this school! I'm learning lots, and the testing is easy enough, even for a Lyme patient like me!! It's "open book" testing and most of the questions are multiple choice - but they can still be hard to answer! I'm taking LOTS and LOTS of notes, because no matter how easy it may be, it's good instruction and I don't want to miss out on much. I've been given a year to complete each level, which is a very generous amount of time for this content. I believe that the amount of time given is still a standard at this school. So far, I have finished the Introductory course - that was fairly easy for me, because I already had a small background with using herbs, making herbal mixtures, making tinctures, tisanes (medicinal herbal teas) and other things - but it was well worth the time, effort and money still for me. It's been a while since I tried studying, so this was a great way for me to "get back into it" - plus I still learned a few things!! I also learned more about the human anatomy in the Intro course. I'm to finish unit 2 of the Intermediate Courses - and I'm just loving it!!! We are making lots of things, and learning so much more! I really like that they have different 'packages' of courses that you can buy - so if you only wish to take your learning to a certain level, you don't have to pay for the full instruction of Advance courses (or whatever). I encourage you to go check it out.....and they do have sales occasionally!!! They just extended their 'summer sale' another two days - but if you can't take advantage of that sale, there should be another one fairly soon. Seems to me that they put their courses on sale 2 or 3 times a year - plus they have courses you can take to supplement your learning, or to just supplement your life. You can check them out here: The Herbal Academy

Thanks Traveler! I have been pretty well lately. I've been able to quit taking my adaptogen supplement and still maintain a decent level of energy, which is a big deal for me!
I'm glad to hear that you're still going strong with your courses and that you benefited from the introductory course. I had wondered how basic it was, but it sounds like it's definitely worth taking. Thanks for mentioning the sales. I'll be sure to watch for them!
In my heart, I have a strong desire to help people with chronic illness and kids with asd/add issues. The only problem is that it would probably be a cut in pay, and my hubby is a little too comfortable with me being the breadwinner. So many things to figure out... I'm planning on talking with my ND about all of this, too, because I think he probably had some good insight about different paths to take.
Thanks so much for your input. I'll keep you posted!

Congratulations, Nosila!!! That's wonderful!! I'm still dreaming of that day when I can come off of my adaptogens.
I think it's a wonderful thing that you are wanting to do!! And, I think that it's a very wise thing to talk to as many people about your options as possible and to get some insight into it all!
Just like with Lyme treatments - it's all one step at a time! So, maybe in the mean time, you can help out on a forum? I know it's been an enriching experience for me.
I wish you the best of luck in all things!!! And yes, please do let us know how you are doing and what your plans are!!!
Congratulations again!!! Woo hoooo!!!

Thanks Traveler! I do have a couple of fb groups where I throw out a few suggestions from time to time. Mostly telling other moms to make sure their kids are pooping enough when they're detoxing! But helping on a forum is an interesting idea. Another mom had asked me to help mod a group she started on fb, but since I work full time and have a little one to care for, I was afraid of the time commitment.

Just ask if you can pop in and help out when you do have the time - and be sure to tell them that it will be infrequent. That way you can see how it goes, and yet still get some experience with it to see if it's something you wish to do.
I got started out by helping out the mod (who was getting really ill) on healingwell - then suddenly found myself as the only Moderator on there!!! I thought I'd never last 6 days, much less 6 weeks - and yet I found that I really did like it! I learned a lot, and there were a ton of frustrating times, but they all turned into learning lessons, and it lead me to going back to school so I can help not only myself better, but others too!!
