Has anyone tried collagen for joint repair? My arthritis is getting worse, and I need to do something.
Also, does anyone know of any good pain management for arthritis? I’ve been using Advil, but I’m concerned that it’s going to hurt my liver because I’m needing so much of it right now.
I go go back to the doc in mid December, and pain management will need to be a big part of the discussion. My husband holds my hand a lot to help me when I’m walking, and even that is getting very painful. It’s awful to have to tell your spouse to ease up when he squeezes your hand or just holds on a little too tightly.
I’m taking 70 mg of hyaluronic acid a day too. Anyone have experience with that?

I deal with this all too much myself - at least in my opinion!! LOL! My fingers and toes all twist and bend in "unnatural" ways - no telling exactly why, although I suspect it was Lyme arthritis that started this. I also have psoriasis, which has it's own form of arthritis as well, and I may be dealing with that. But, regardless of what is triggering an arthritis type issue, it's all about calming the inflammation. Although I do use turmeric & black pepper daily to help lower my inflammation, it's not enough when my joints are being attacked by arthritis. What I have used, and have gone back to using is DMSO mixed with arnica gel. www.amazon.com/DMSO-Liquid-Concentrate-99-Pure/dp/B001L538IY Note this is 99% pure - be sure to get the 99% pure one! I buy this locally at my Farm supply store for a lot less - so watch prices as they do vary quite a bit. And it only takes a very, very small amount of this!! Do not get it all over the place either - it can damage fabrics and such. Personally, I would NOT recommend using it other than topically unless under the direction of a doctor - but for me, using it topically with the arnica gel has been a life saver! I couldn't even touch my finger when I started using it (makes it harder to put it on the finger!!!) - but within a few days, relief came! The arnica gel can be purchased at a lot of different stores. I've seen it in Walmart, Walgreens, and other stores - but here it is on Amazon as well: www.amazon.com/Boiron-Analgesic-Shoulder-Arthritis-Ingredient/dp/B00EEEFUZI?th=1 Now, I'm dealing with my ring finger on my left hand swelling from arthritis, and I can't close my fist now, so I'm back to using it again for my fingers. Funny thing - I just realized that I've never tried this on my feet!! It would likely be amazing for my poor old, broken down feet too! LOL! Now, for my knees, that's a different story, as the arnica gel and DMSO doesn't seem to help as much ( ), so I resorted to using glucosamine (2000 mgs)/ MSM (2000 mgs)/Hyaluronic acid (4.4 mgs) daily seems to help them though.

On WebMD, it says MSM is a sulpha drug, and that you shouldn’t take it if you have a sensitivity to it, which I do. Darn. It was also recommended by a friend of my aunt. “Since MSM is a sulfa drug, do NOT take it if you have allergies to sulfa.” What about glucosamine? This is what WebMD says about that. “In most studies on treating osteoarthritis, the typical dose was 500 milligrams of glucosamine sulfate, three times a day.” I’m seeing the words “glucosamine SULFATE,” so I guess that’s the same situation. Dang! I’m just in so much constant pain! I think I have a reaction to DMSO too. It itches terribly when I put it on, and I have to wash it off right away. I have not tried the arnica gel. I need something for my knees, elbows, fingers, feet, and back. My doctor’s appointment can’t come soon enough.

I'm so sorry, Alyeska! I know what kind of pain that is!
Yes, glucosamine sulfate is the name of the supplement. I do believe that's the same type as is found in most 'arthritis' supplements.
Also, watch out for chondroitin, as it too is based in/on sulfur.
My hubby can't take those things either, and has to rely on just what turmeric/black pepper can do for him. He won't go without it. I use turmeric/black pepper as well, but need the other things as well to function still.
So, ask your doctor about anti-inflammatories, and whatever else they might recommend! I hope that appointment is soon for you!!!

]I think I told you I have a sensitivity to turmeric. Of course I do! This doctor’s appointment can’t come fast enough. Right. So, I have been doing my lessons in school, and came upon sulfur sensitivities in one of my lessons. To confirm what I was suspecting, I asked the instructors a question about it - if a person has sensitivities to sulfur, does that mean that their liver is not detoxing well enough?". The answer was yes. Just something to keep in mind when you get to your doctor!! You may need more help with detoxing your liver more regularly??

I guess I really need to force myself to do the detoxing baths every single day. I’ve just been too tired. The new treatment plan has me now putting H2 tablets in a glass of water and drinking it twice a day (yuck) and taking peptides which were very expensive and have yet to arrive in the mail. I got a shot of the peptides on Tuesday at the office, so I got to try them, and I did sleep well that night and felt very good for most of the following day, but it could have been just that I actually got a good night’s sleep which happens every now and then. Here I am, up again at 3:30 AM, so I’ll probably be exhausted again today unless I can fall back asleep for a while. I hope the peptides arrive soon so I can start using them before the chaos of Christmas. I will most likely be using Benadryl to help me sleep during that time just so I can survive whether the peptides arrive or not. Of course my husband warned me not to get too excited since my doctor constantly has me trying new treatments that don’t seem to work, but maybe they are working a little. I’m still alive!

And, trying new things is how we find things that work for us!! That's one of the hardest things about these diseases - what works for one person may only work for them and them alone! I mean someone can copy a lot of what someone does that has healed, and still heal, but they will almost certainly have to do some things differently, or require different meds/supplements. So, each of us having such unique bodies didn't help here!
Anyway, that's something to keep in mind, you may need to detox your liver better. But I would encourage you to talk to your doctor to make sure it's all coordinated with everything else you are doing. No need to throw you off course!!
