I stumbled upon a way to help ease pain!!! It does have some restrictions, so please do be sure to check that it won't hurt you!!!! It's just too easy to make!! We can all make it if you have access to the herb!! I stuffed some plantain leaves into a canning jar (2/3rds full) and filled the jar up with a good quality olive oil and allowed it to sit in a dark, cool cabinet for 6 weeks. Strain and bottle. Plantain is known to help with mouth pain by crushing the leaves and placing it over the affected area (helped me get through when I had dental posts installed in my lower jaw), but that's not always something we can do, so I thought I'd try making the infused oil. I have now used it to help with back muscle spasms/pain, dental pain (myself - and my dog!!!), and is good to ease the itchiness of insect bites. link to picture of plantainlink to plantain 'cautions' We MUST use herbs in a responsible way!!! How safe is it? Contraindications: Contraindications have not yet been identified. Pregnancy/nursing: Documented adverse effects. Avoid use. Uterine activity, laxative. Interactions: Patients taking lithium or carbamazepine should avoid coadministration of plantain. Caution patients receiving lithium or carbamazepine to consult their health care provider before using herbal products. Side Effects: Adverse events include anaphylaxis, chest congestion, sneezing and watery eyes, occupational asthma, and a situation involving the occurrence of a giant phytobezoar (a gastric concretion composed of vegetable matter) composed of psyllium seed husks. Toxicities The pollen contains allergenic glycoproteins, as well as components that bind IgE. IgE antibodies have been demonstrated. The IgE-mediated sensitization has contributed to seasonal allergy.

Oh LORDY, do I remember your issues with your feet! They would cramp up so bad that they would curl!!!! Sheesh! I was so happy (sorry! LOL!) that I didn't have to deal with that.....then I DID have to deal with it!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! That was not cool. Fortunately, a very kind friend sent me some thieves oil that they couldn't use, so I started trying it and it was amazing!!! Just 2 drops on each foot took away what felt like a railroad spike that was inserted 3 inches into my heel!!! I was NOT a happy camper during that time! So, maybe we should make this thread about the things that have worked for us for pain issues? Sound good? Anyone else have things they have found to help with their pain besides over the counter stuff like aspirin, advil, and those "regular" things? I have used arnica gel (can be found in many stores): When my arthritis really gets mad at me, and my joint(s) are red and swollen, I had a natural doc tell me to use a few drops of pure DMSO with it: This is what I got, it's 99% pure: Now, the caveat with using DMSO is that whatever areas you put it on to, and your hands MUST be freshly washed and very clean. The DMSO is a solvent and will draw whatever it's mixed with (including dirt and germs) down into the skin. muscles and joints (if they are close to the surface, like fingers/toes). It works quickly and well for me. I went from not wanting even air to touch my fingers to being able to use them again in a short time. Anyone else have any suggestions?

My husband has used the DMSO several times...not just for pain...but it healed some of his injuries. The first one was a tendon below his knee - he bashed it at work. After about 6 months of no improvement, he was sent to a specialist (orthopedic surgeon I think?) and he said the only thing he could do was open it up and fillet the tendon (shave some off) so it wasn't pushing on the knee-cap anymore. He said " f---k that" (to himself) and then used the DMSO. Within a few weeks, the inflammation was gone...and never returned...that was many, many years ago. Prior to that he used it on his thoracic area of back - after a lingering issue after a car accident. A year after the accident, the Dr.'s told him that he wasn't going to get much better...and in fact he'd probably start to feel worse over time as he had some arthritis and that would just worsen over time. After another year of pain...he did the DMSO (this was actually his first time using it) - and he applied it directly on the area...for several days in a row. He put it on full strength and got the red peeling skin ...but within a few weeks..maybe a month or so...his pain was almost completely gone...it continued to resolve. He has no pain to this day (that was over 10 years ago) Yes - it has to be clean - it also crosses the blood/brain barrier.

Well, I was unlucky with pain during childbirth. I must have gotten the short straw, because (TMI warning!!!!) once my son got stuck, the pain was unreal. Of course I had all my infections and untreated then as well, so maybe Lyme and company played a part in my pain levels as well? Its hard to find other ladies that have had that situation happen to them as well to compare notes!

Well, I only had the labour pains...and then I was put on the helivac and flown to a bigger city who could handle preemie babies. When I arrived, I was given anesthetic and missed the delivery entirely. Had an emergency C-Section. Hubby missed it too.

It was pretty scary to be going through, alone (no one from my family was allowed in once 'issues' started) and only 23 years old. It was my second live birth, and the first one wasn't exactly smooth sailing either. But, I had two beautiful kids, both of whom are healthy and doing well, so I'm very grateful to have survived that and to have been such a part of their lives.

I ended up with a C section, 14 hrs of labor! Than I busted my back up, had a back operation.... Still rather gone through all that, than the pain I had with LD! I was in bed couldn't walk could feed myself, I had muscle "freezes" so bad, my left arm was frozen, couldnt feed myself.. I was a huge huge mess in the beginning of LD. But I made it through and up and walking, can't run, but that is ok. I can feed myself. So I am a very thankful lady I came through the beginning of LD. I still have issues from LD, but I am through the worse.

As I've told you many times over the years, I couldn't have made it through that dark, dark time without you. Someone that understood and didn't look at me like I had just sprouted a third eye!!! To me, you are a hero. All of us are that survive this onslaught of things and go on.

We are sisters from way back when!!! Yes!! We have made amazing progress - especially when you consider we both went downhill after we stopped talking so much on the phone! But, your support and friendship has never wavered. I wish every single Lyme patient had the type of friendship we have had all these years - it's been 10 years now!
