Hi Traveler, I need advice on how to proceed after the last two weeks and changes in treatment. I went from 90 % better then to 2 weeks of daily herxing/increase and return of some old neuro symptoms.
My story: a few weeks ago,Found out I had two kinds candida in gut.
New llmd said it would be good to stop all abx(after 9 months) and just continue the herbals while I heal the candida issue and try to get my own immune system in shape to heal Lyme and co.
I was already on Buhner Lyme and Bart protocols but at maybe 1/3 the recommended doses per day .
I stopped abx cold turkey( malorone 250 2 x day, azith 250 md a day, and bactrim DS 800/160mg 2 x day.
I figured I would have to increase the herbal doses so I did go up to full doses now taking 3 times a day.
New Llmd also added bidens 20 drops 2x day and a tincture mix of uva usi(100 ml), chamomile(60 ml), and cats claw(60 ml) 1 tsp 2Xday.
Sorry about the length of this.
I guess I'm just nervous stopping abx but my healing seemed stalled at 90 %. and I have the yeast issues.
I think I did too much of an increase of herbals..... and the new ones added in....that must be the cause of my increase in symptoms/herxing or could it be because I also stopped abx?
I just need to figure this out. I think I felt comfortable on the herbs and made the mistake of jumping to the full doses way to quick. Darn I just need some reassurance of what to do and confidence that I dont have to be dependent on the abx right now due to the yeast.
Thanks ahead for any advice. Take care, Jo

Oh, Jo! I'm so very sorry!! I think you are on track with your thinking - the dramatic increase in doses combined with new herbs added in was just too much too fast. I do understand why you were a bit nervous just dropping the abx like that, your body still needed time to adjust to all the changes the herbs were making when you increased the doses. This won't be a lot of fun, but you should make progress back to your 80 - 90% fairly quickly if you can get the herxing calmed down and up on the herbs as quick as possible. Be sure to detox well, and lower your doses of your herbs to at least 1/2 (since you were only at about 1/3 doses, you may need to go back to that though). Stick to a good schedule on your herbs and detoxing and you should get back on track soon. Do take your herbs 3 times a day though, as you want to have a good consistent 'flow' of the herbs into your system, and toxins coming out of the body. You may or may not need to stop the new herbal additions, but I'd start with just lower doses if your doc seemed to feel that these were really necessary for battling the yeast, or if there were particularly bothersome issues that needed to be addressed. Do you feel your doc has you on a good healing protocol for healing the yeast? I'm so sorry that this has happened!!! Do be sure you are eating a good anti-candida diet too - don't want to 'feed' the yeast!! Let us know how you are doing with this! Hopefully we can be of help to you! And, of course, I wish you the very best with this!

Thank you so much for your help. I just needed to hear it from you, I know you understand the herbals and these infections so well and I trust your instincts.
I just am going through a lot since I decided to change llmd's but I believe its for the better.
Yes I am supposed eat a special diet and I take a few things for candida, Super Garlic supplement and I believe the tincture she made me.
It was just a bit scary leaving the abx but I was on very low doses from previous llmd and she said if in the future I need abx she can help with that too if I had to go back on them.
I will lower my doses, Thanks and I hope all is going well with you and hope your husband is healing well from neck surgery.
Take care, Jo

Aw,Jo! Thank you for your confidence in me!
Changing doctors can be hard on anyone! But, sometimes a "new set of eyes" can make a world of difference.
Please do realize that while the garlic is helpful for the candida, it may also be hitting other infections...like Lyme and company as well as others. You may want to double check each new item to understand what it may be treating. It always helps me to know those things so I better understand what to do to support my body.
And how wonderful that your new doc can and is willing to prescribe abxif you need them!! Bonus!!!
Thank you for thinking of my hubby and myself! He's doing amazingly well!! Only one migraine in the last 4 weeks since surgery!!! That alone is a massive change as he was having migraines every other day or daily for many years now. The bonus is that the surgery even helped his sciatica!
I'm slowly recovering. Lol. But, I'm more stable thang I've been in several years, so once I get back to sleeping well, I'm sure things will be good again.
Please do let us know how you are doing or if you have any other questions that we can be of help with!
