Ahhhh, the fun of family festivities!!! And the after math!!! I know that we all want to "just be normal" again, and during holidays and festivities it's really a pronounced feeling - but I do hope that everyone didn't over do it so much as to be really suffering!!! I'm finally recovering from yet another trip (lol), and it's taking a while, but fortunately, I will be mostly close to home for a while now.....I hope! LOL! I'm actually doing fairly good, considering! YAY!! So, let's all check in as you can - no rush, I just would love to hear any special times, or people that you were in contact with, or just having a really nice time with the family!! Personally, we stayed with my daughter and her fiance (a very wonderful Greek geek!!!) Thursday and Thursday night (that was GREAT!!! I did zero cooking!!), then we went to visit my hubby's daughter and her hubby and kids (our only grandkids - 3 boys) - and we were greeted with shouts of joy and even got a thank you/love note from our oldest grandson for coming down for Grandparents Day to his and his little brother's school! (yes, I nearly cried - it was our first note from our now 7 year old grandson!!!). So, while exhausting, it was such a good trip!

Trav, I'm so glad to hear you had a great trip, and spent some happy moments with your family, even though the traveling was tiring. There's nothing like shouts of joy from little kids to lift and renew your spirits!
I herxed through Thanksgiving, but managed. Bicillin injections maintain their dose for 14 days, so learning to cope with this Rx (vs. orals) has been a challenge. But, I'm detoxing like mad and hoping the herx disappears soon (going on my 3rd week). Half dose next time!
I would like to share that I was able to join my husband Thanksgiving morning for our town's Turkey Trot. I'm not able to run at this point, but we walked together (our kids ran) and it was so nice for our whole family to be out. I've pulled back a lot socially this past year, and it was nice seeing friends we hadn't for a while. I need to re-engage, but it's tough when dealing with herx-enhanced anxiety. Will get there, I hope...
We also had my parents and brother visit. So a small group. My Mom asked me, "are you planning any trips south this winter?" I don't think she realizes how sick I still am. But, perhaps that's a blessing, particularly around the holidays.
Happy you had a great holiday!

I'm so sorry, KB! I do hope that the herxing slows down soon for you!!! And I'm glad to hear that you are going to try half doses next time! We usually do better "sneaking up on" those darned bacteria (killing less than preferable at first, then working our way up to full doses) - so I really hope it works that way for you as well!! Any time I start something new, even at low doses, I can feel that herx last 3 weeks every single time! So I feel your pain!
I'm very, very happy to hear that you had a really nice holiday - and you even got out a bit!!! YAY!!!! Do be careful to not get overwhelmed with re-connecting with others - take that slow as well.
I understand - my Mom still has no idea how impacted I am - but I do believe that it's at least partly just denial. I'm very careful to be sure she understands that I don't blame her for this, even though I was only 7 when it all started. How the heck was she supposed to know to not believe the doctors? There's a part of me that believes she should have done more, but I've let that go in favor of preserving our relationship instead.
Rest up, KB!!
And a HUGE YAY for Michele for having a wonderful holiday and being recovered!!!!

Trav, I'm sorry you herx as long as I do. I appreciate your sharing that as I was beginning to think it was just me. I often hear other people say, "I only herx for a day or two." That's so good for them, but that's never been my situation. So, it helps to know I'm not alone.
I'm sure your Mom does question whether she could have done more for you. I feel for you. I know that was many years ago and, even now, it can take a special level of advocacy to get the right diagnosis and treatment for this disease. I think you're gracious in the way you approach to your relationship with her. I'm sure you have your moments, but I'm always impressed with your strength and grace in dealing with Lyme/co's. You're a special person!
Hope everyone else found some moments to enjoy over Thanksgiving -- sometimes it's all about embracing those small moments because larger periods of happiness or feeling comfortable are just too elusive.
