I just found out I have hypothyroidism and got put on 15 mg of Armour. The NP said it works like caffeine on some people, but since I started taking it, I just feel tired and flu-ish. Has this happened to anyone else? I don’t think it would cause a herx, would it? I was really hoping to FINALLY have some energy.
I’m supposed to have all kinds of problems clearing up on this medication. It sure would be nice!
I’m just kind of wondering what other people have dealt with if they have this problem or are on this med. My daughter is on 60 mg for the same reason but got diagnosed months ago, and she says she’s still tired too.
I always get my my hopes up when starting new meds. I have yet to actually be happy about one. I’m just a misguided optimist I guess!

I started out on Armour thyroid and liked how it helped me, but my health insurance co told me that I would do just fine on Synthroid (which I had been on before and it did nothing for me - but of course, they could care less about that). But, not every patient does well on each brand/type of thyroid med. That's not to mention that they changed the formulation of Armour a couple of times, and many patients say that it no longer works for them, although some still do fine on it. This page may be of some help to you: Armour and a lot of unhappy thyroid patients…all over again! If you do find that Armour isn't the right one for you, here is a page listing thyroid meds to help you see what's available, although your doc may or may not be willing to prescribe them: Options for Thyroid Treatment I hope you find those helpful!!!
