Warning!!! This post got me to crying, so be careful and please DO NOT READ if you are not up for it!!! I could post a gazillion pictures of my baby, but I'll only add 2. Many of you know that these fur babies can be our best friend, as there is unconditional love and comfort from them - no matter what.
This baby was a street dog for the first 9 months of his life, before he was attacked by a pack of large dogs (he's only 30 lbs at his heaviest) and left for dead. He learned to live in cardboard boxes while on the street, and it took us MONTHS of working with him to get him to sleep somewhere other than a cardboard box!! He loved our shower though, so when he hurt or wasn't feeling good, he liked to go there. I made him a really good cushion (3 inch foam pad, then covered with an old sheet) that was fitted to the shower floor so he could be as comfortable as possible. This baby was sooo afraid of loud noises, and it only got worse as he went blind (old age + a severe concussion), and he would "fly" into the shower! Loved him with all my heart. Rest in peace, baby, rest in peace.

Yep... definitely got me crying... I know we emailed about this a bit, but when I got online ( finally) and saw your post I just had to respond.
I very much understand how an animal can become your best friend. And such a comfort when we’re sick!
He’s beautiful! And so lucky to have found a home with you after having such a rough start in life. I like his shower bed. And his ears. He looks like a really happy guy. The photo with the goat is cute too!
Wish I had better words to say... something that didn’t sound superficial or might actually make u feel better. But I don’t. All I can say is I’m sorry & I care. Thinking of u lots...
Hang in there Trav! And Rest In Peace Bojangles!
P.s. I like the idea of us having a place to post about our animal friends. I have a feeling that a lot of us lymies wouldn’t be able to get through all the cr*p we have to 24/7 of it weren’t for our critters! I know I wouldn’t !

I agree about having a place to post about our animal friends. I think you’re right about Lymies needing our pets. My pets are more important to me than most people because I’m home so much. When you lose an animal, it really is losing a member of your family. It was so so nice to be able to get on here and talk about my baby last spring when he was spiraling with his back problems. I really do believe they’ll be waiting for us in Heaven if we can just get there too. Here is one of my sweet babies lost a few months ago. Sending everyone one hugs, kisses, and lots of love.

I can't thank you all enough for participating in this thread with me!! As you all said, they are more than just pets to us, and there are many that don't understand - you can see it in their blank stares as you talk about how they napped with you - whenever you needed to! Or where there when you were in such a 'bad place' that you just had to hold on to someone that cared and cry!!
I surely wouldn't survive long without my fur babies!
We can make this a happy thread too though - so if you all wish to post pics and tell us about other fur babies that are still with you, just start a new thread! I'm so far behind in everything online after being gone for a week (plus the 2 days before just to get everything washed, packed and ready) - I won't be posting on it for a bit, but I have 2 other dogs and a goofy cat as well that you all just have to meet!!!

Sorry for your loss, Traveler. It is so hard to say goodbye to our fur babies.
I still tear up thinking about my little Rusty cat - and that was 2 years ago now.
((hugs))

Thank you, Girlie. I do remember when you lost him. Our cats nearly looked identical, so I feel lucky to still have my ornery critter with me.
My deepest sympathies to all who have lost their furry loved ones.
And again, thank you for participating with me. It's been helping me get through it all.

Here’s my silly old lady. She’s been my constant companion for 11 years and doesn’t like me out of her sight. and here’s our new baby. This guy has major separation anxiety issues, but he sure is a sweet funny guy! He was almost a year when we adopted him with absolutely no history. Yes, he’s perched on the arm of our couch. He jumps like a kangaroo, so his name is Bungee!

Beautiful babies, Alyeska!!! This is my long haired Chihuahua - now I NEVER thought I'd end up with a Chihuahua, as I've always been a 'big dog' person!! LOL! But, this little guy came to our door one day and we just couldn't refuse!! Next must be my goofy cat. He's got 2 extra toes - with working claws!!- on each foot!!!! And, goofy is a mild way of describing him, but I love him so much!!! And the old lady of the crew - she's a "Daddy's girl" through and through, but she has her moments with me, as this picture shows. She wants to be in the middle of everything!! LOL! She's a Jack Russell terrier that weighs all of 13 lbs - but that's simply does NOT slow this gal down!!! LOL!

They are ALL so dang cute! I don’t see how you could have refused that little dog showing up on your doorstep. He’s beautiful! I love Jack Russels too, but they have waaaay to much energy for me in my situation. I was dog sitting a Jack Russell a few years ago, and I threw a tennis ball into a lake for that dog to fetch for two straight hours before he got tired. He wasn’t even a puppy! Your cat is adorable too. I love the goofy ones. We’ve had all kinds of personalities with our cats. Unfortunately we can’t have them anymore because two of us have allergies. I miss having them so much. I was up all night with a sick puppy. We thought we could actually leave him out of the crate Friday night to go to a movie because he’s done fine before, but when we came back he’d chewed up a bunch of stuff. What we didn’t know until last night was that he’d swallowed some of it. He’s fine today, thank goodness, but he was so sick last night. Of course my teenagers happily let me clean everything up and sleep with him last night so they didn’t have to deal with it even though he’s technically their dog! Those sleepless nights, whether from a dog or insomnia, really do a number on me.

Oh no! Im so sorry to hear that, Alyeska! It matters very little to my body WHY I'm up all night, only that I was. I was very fortunate that hubby would get up and take the "early morning shift" with my baby Bojangles (usually around 3 am), so I could get at least some rest. I would have never made it through 3 months of that otherwise.
Lol! Jack Russell's definitely are high energy! I was pretty hesitant to get one, but once I saw her...I was so in love so fast, I couldnt help myself! She was "the mischevious one" as we were told! But I really can't imagine my life without her! If I'm up and active, she will even leave her dad! If not, shes now (at 13! Ha ha ha!) content to stick pretty close to him. We've talked about the time when she 'goes' and neither of us can imagine our lives without a Jack Russell there too. But...we want to do what we can to get another small one! 13 lbs of JRT is more than enough for me!
All our babies mean so much to us. I'm so glad that we can have this in common as well.
Anytime anyone has happy news, issues, questions, needs support for something their fur baby is going through, please post here about it!
