One day I’m walking like I’m 80, the next I look like absolutely nothing’s wrong. I can’t even explain it myself. I know! Saturday we left our house at 6:30 a.m. for our trip to Washington DC - I had so much pain...and confusion to boot. I was not much help in the airports (we were in 4 to get there) Then coming back on the Tuesday - totally different story. I had almost no pain for most of the trip and was marching through the airport and remembering Gate numbers, etc. Night and Day. Coming home - I was comfortable in the plane...strange disease this is!

Unfortunately, the only thing we can say is that it's the nature of the disease! I know that doesn't help explain it to those that don't understand, but going into a big long explanation of why it happens surely won't win us any friends!!!LOL! But I do know what you are saying. I used to look forward to that aspect of Lyme, simply so that I could tell myself that tomorrow will be different, at least. Some symptoms were basically the same every stinkin' day, but a good majority would rotate every few days, and since they each picked their own schedule (LOL), each day I would have at least several different symptoms rotate through. I used to wake up and mumble to myself, wonder what the mystery bag holds today?

I ALWAYS feel better after being in an airplane even when I’m going to places I don’t want to go. I feel much better in tall mountains too. I’ve noticed it in the Alps, the Rockies, and the Grand Tetons. Has anyone else noticed this?

I don't know about in an airplane, but I do know that up in the higher altitudes we feel better literally because there is less oxygen - oxygen kills the infections we carry, so less killing is being done during those times. Those that live in higher elevations and often visit lower elevations often feel worse, because they are used to having less oxygen most of the time to 'help' kill those bacteria. This doesn't apply to everyone, of course - after all, we ARE talking about Lyme and company!!

While not for everyone, that's why hyperbaric oxygen can be helpful in the treatment of these infections. I know of one gal that healed herself only using hyperbaric oxygen. For a couple of years, hubby had work in San Diego, Cal (I traveled with him), and lived in Alpine, CA - elevation of 1834 ft. He had family down in El Cnetro, CA, and so we would go down there often -which was 42 ft below sea level. So the change in altitude for us was 1876 ft, more than enough to make me feel miserable!!! We got to where we didn't stay more than 2 -3 hours in order to keep me from being home bound the next day. Of course, this was all happening before I had an accurate diagnosis.

Oh gosh, that must have been awful! I’m glad you at least figured it out after the fact! I’m kind of bummed about the whole thing. I thought the mountains did something to HELP kill Lyme. I was hoping that would give me an excuse to some day move to the mountains! Well, at least I know that I can continue to have good vacations there.

Oh MAN!! That's exactly how I feel so much of the time!!! I don't like having to take so much stuff, but until my body can get the nutrients it needs from the food I eat, I'm stuck supplementing.

Bwahahahahaha!!! Okay, so just for fun, I thought I'd search for 'bad Lyme humor' online - and guess what comes up?? This thread!!! That meme reminds me of when I had the fun of experiencing narcolepsy! The first time was when I was a Senior in high school and would fall asleep any time I sat still for longer than 7 minutes! I would stand in my classes (fortunately it was only half days), and fall asleep waiting for my ride (of course, mom wouldn't let me drive while I was dealing with this!). That really convinced many kids in my class I was really weird!! Ha ha ha!!!
In case the print is too small to see: " Bon Voyage! Oh, by the way, I can't say when I'll let you off this thing!" Sign says "Lyme H*ll ride"

High school is rough enough, and then not being able to drive and having to stand in your classes! You have had quite a life. I’m so amazed by how positive you are! Lyme is a H*ll ride indeed!

I came across this one again, and I just had to post it! LOL!!! It's just too accurate at times! (I just realized that you can't see all the words in this one! It says: "Whoever has my voodoo doll....please give it a rest!)
