You've answered mine! More than once on some of them, actually. Thanks so much for your help and patience!!! I'm still not back to "normal," but I definitely feel better than I did last week.

In a good Lyme community, we all band together to try to help those that don't understand as much as the members that have been dealing with this longer - and are hopefully careful to learn from those that have had different experiences too. That's the goal here too. I've beat these infections with just herbs and detoxing! And so have many others, including Deejavu and others. I don't poo poo using pharma, as I truly believe there is a place and time for them, but for many of us, herbs are incredibly useful as well, and some of us just do better on the wide ranging effects of the herbs than on the specific actions of a pharma drug. I'm one of those people. Even for "lesser" infections like bronchitis. I beat bronchitis many times with herbs only, but when I married my hubby, he was very leary of herbs, and I "allowed" myself to be treated with pharma instead....and every time I had to resort to my preferred herbs to keep it from advancing to pneumonia. The doc would give me 3 days to show improvements, so I'd go home and get back on my herbs as I had zero desire to be in the hospital- and 3 days later, they would be surprised at what an improvement I'd had!! LOL! So, keep asking questions of the things that you don't understand, don't make sense or you're just curious about, as the learning curve for these infections is steep and we are here to help you!!

Having another bad gut day (very reminiscent of last year)...I sure hope the few days of doxy did not give me c diff again....Might have been a big mistake... Herbs have not arrived...Getting anxious.... Went to get started (slowly)...
I read that Astragalus can help at the beginning of an infection and as a preventative. I feel slightly better today in the lyme dept...I have been taking about 3400mg per day... Can it instigate gut issues ? I googled the herb and it seems it can, but it's not common....I am going to lower the mg today to see if that helps... I feel like a human test tube !

I think most of us feel like a human guinea pig a lot! LOL!
Astragalus is a pretty safe herb, but your right, it does have the potential to cause issues. Lowering your dose would be good - Buhner suggests 3,000 mgs daily (divided into 3 doses). I've been on that dose for 3 years so far. Or is that 4 years now?? LOL, I'm not sure right now!!! Oh well, it's been a while!

Hi, I dialed down the astragalus to 2500mg... seems to be ok... My problem is I go into everything at a very fast pace.....which is good for career, hobby's etc....but not for this illness... My mind set is attack and kill the germs, but I have a sensitive system...and must tread lightly...That's a hard thing to sink into this old thick head of mine.... Scott

LOL! It's hard for most of us to get our head's wrapped around a MUCH slower pace at treatments! We have been taught to hit it hard and fast from the Western Medicine perspective - and yet when so many systems are being affected, like in Lyme and company, that's just not a good idea, especially for those of us with a chronic situation.
Hang in there, and keep trying and adjusting things!! "Listen" to what your body is telling you, I promise it's talking to each of us, we just have to "adjust" our hearing and then learn how to respond. That seems to be a huge key to most of us healing. Pushing through herxing is not good for us either, despite what many would have us believe. Obviously, they have not endured serious herxing or they too would be more cautious!!
So remember to take it slow now and take things one day at a time. And, above all else, ask questions! We can help you learn a lot on what your body is 'saying' to you!!
