Hi, Have not posted in awhile.....have been quite ill....Fighting very strong depression as well.... I was taking crypt, sida, astragulus, lomatium, red root, manuka honey etc....when my gut started to go down hill.....cramps in multiple areas, above and below the naval, loose stool, white stringy stool alone and combined.....In pain almost all day....stomach area pain and rumbling, constant urge to go... Anyway, this has been going on for awhile.... I had an "under skin" cyst burst in front of my ear (became ill soon afterwards), right after a tetanus scare....Contacted an herbalist who put me on larger doses of the above herbs that I was taking anyway....Then my gut protested and has been very angry since.... Went to my doctors. One said just take as much probiotics as you can and eat only organic and grass fed food..... The other took a wait and see approach....Finally I went to a GI, and we are in the process of stool and blood testing.... I am praying I do not have cdiff again.....Trouble eating, lost about 8 pounds, down to about 120....
Could it be candida or mucus ? On a candida diet right now, just in case.... I show stool pics to the doctors and they shrug their shoulders ? I asked for a comprehensive stool test and I am getting a narrow test.... I want to use Geneva Diagnostics comprehensive stool testing and think I found a doc who is affiliated with them and takes my insurance. I will still have to pay for the tests, which is fine at this point.... I am currently not taking any herbs....stopping the offending antibacterial meds sometimes allows your gut to come back....I am thinking I over did the crypt....I took it for well over 30 days....
Taking vsl3 and thinking about trying florastor.....But this is very confusing....If I have sibo the probiotics might make it worse....If I have candida everywhere, is this die off ? and florastor is a yeast probiotic. Will that feed the candida? If I have cdiff....well, that would suck..... Gi wants me to take Rifaximin in case I have sibo...He said it is good for ibs, but I am nervous due to cdiff....It is given for that as well, but with mixed results which he would not acknowledge.....

Oh Acres!!! I'm so very sorry!!! What a mess! I believe with your history, stopping all treatments was a wise thing to do. Are you addressing the depression? I sure hope so, it can get serious for us if we don't. If you need some help with this, please do ask!!! I am currently having issues with my GI as well (but this is a very common issue for me, and not with something like C-diff), and I 'overdid' the probiotics trying to get my gut back to where it needed to be, ended up with lots of gas and mucousy stools too. I lowered my probiotics drastically, and switched them around, and things are trying to get back to where they need to be again. Note: I have to take probiotics any time my psoriasis flares, which it really likes to do this summer/fall due to lots of activity on my part. This is one probiotic I won't drop until I have my psoriasis under control again. I use not only probiotics in pill form, but kefir as well to help keep the probiotic strains rotating so I don't end up with an overload of any one type of bacteria. From time to time, I do find myself on 2 or even 3 different probiotics at a time. I think you are wise in having the testing done, especially since you have a history with C-diff and were using antimicrobial herbs. That would be the first thing I'd have checked too. It may be a combination of things for you that set this off - the tetanus scare (did you get a vaccine? That may have something to do with this as well), the 'under skin' cyst - it could all be linked. I'm very careful with my diet during these times (also making sure that I get the right foods/lots of colors and so on), but I don't and never have had a diet of strictly organic and only grass fed meats - although I know they are better for us, I do believe that entirely too much emphasis is placed on the debate over organic/non organic. Not to mention, many of us are struggling so hard to afford our treatments that we can't afford to eat organics only. If it's candida, you can try a dose of ACV (unless that's not good due to the C-diff??). If it's candida in the gut, you will experience an increase in gas and maybe some more loose stools the first several doses, and then things should settle back down. You can also check to see if and how thick of a white coating you have on your tongue. While a person can have candida of the gut without the heavier white coating on the tongue, often the heavier coating is there. As for the Florastor, it contains S. boulardii, which will kill off candida: The effect of Saccharomyces boulardii on Candida albicans‐infected human intestinal cell lines Caco‐2 and Intestin 407 Scroll down to the "Discussion" to read the results easily. Best of luck with this and please do let us know how things are going!

Hi, Just started Gaba for the blues.....One of my doc's suggested it..I take Xanax .25, when needed, to sleep more than anything else....
Yes please give me ideas for my depression.....The frustration of one problem after another becomes overwhelming at times... I also have pancreas cysts that are due for a mri in December...Hoping they are not angry....
I am eating almond butter, rice, chicken soup with boiled skinless breast, bananas, zucchini, eggplant, homemade coconut bread, eggs....that's about it....
How can you tell if it is mucus or yeast in the stool ? My tongue is ok... yes, I received a tetanus/diphtheria shot and it gave me a 3 week non stop panic attack with full body twitching.....it finally calmed down.....
I am not sure if vsl3 does anything for me...What do you take ? I like your idea of rotation, makes sense now that I think of it....
Acv (I use Mothers) is ok for cdiff....I take it on and off.....not consistent, to be honest....
Yes, my doc wants us to spend a small fortune on food, which is not possible....Going to try organic eggs though... Thanks for the link....and this amazing forum....

Awww, thank you for your comment about the forum! I do try. LOL. What I've found out about my anger 'issues' and depression is it's often caused by brain inflammation, so an anti-inflammatory that works well for you may be all you need. I like using turmeric with black pepper, as it helps a lot for me. St. Johns wort is one herb that is supposed to be very good for depression though, if the anti-inflammatories don't help enough. It's comparable to pharmaceuticals even. I like this article, because it lists known drug interactions: examine.com/supplements/hypericum-perforatum/ As far as I understand, yeast and mucous look about the same in the stool too much of the time, so that's a hard one. "Stools with a large amount of Candida may contain a white, stringy material that looks like pieces of string cheese. The Candida can also look frothy, similar to yeast in bread mix when it’s rising. It can also resemble mucus." www.healthline.com/health/candida-in-stool#symptomsYep, that's what I got about 5 years ago, the tetanus/diphtheria shot, even though I didn't need the diphtheria vaccine, so my body fought against it and I was pretty miserable until I could help my body detox it out. Lately, I've been using "Align" probiotic for my psoriasis, but for general probiotic use, I have been using "Genesis today" probiotic with 13 different strain of probiotics and some prebiotics in it, with an claimed 45 Billion active cultures in 3 capsules. I usually only use 1 - 2 of these caps at a time though, and take them a couple of times in the day. I also use plain, unflavored, unsweetened kefir, and add a bit of stevia and a few drops of (real) vanilla extract once a day as well. Recently, I stopped the kefir, and dropped down to just one a day of the Genesis today, and one cap of Align as well because my innerds were churning and gassy without any real progress with moving things through. Boy, that changed when I changed what I was taking! ACV is always best to use if you buy it with the mother in it! I always use that variety now on anything and everything - even got hubby moved over to using it! LOL! Please do keep checking back in with us and letting us know how we might be of help!!! I hope that this is short lived for you!!! My GI issues are bad enough to deal with, and I'd be willing to bet they are nothing like what you deal with!
