I have seen the first Guardians of the Galaxy. I am still waiting to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. In all honesty I didn't think that I would like this movie, but it turned out I was wrong!
I rented A Dog's Purpose. This was a very sad movie. I am a huge animal lover and to see a dog passing away was heartbreaking.
I saw the first John Wick movie awhile ago. Recently saw John Wick: Chapter 2. Obviously, I didn't remember too much from the first movie. I had a very hard time trying to follow who was who in the Chapter 2. I kind of just gave up on watching it. UGH!
Please feel free to share what movies you have seen lately!

Hi LB,
I saw a movie on Netflix called A Streetcat named Bob and I thought it was really good! It is based on a true story which made it better IMO.
My taste in movies is strange because I love the old movies the best (TCM), yeah boring black and white films from the 30's, 40's, etc.

Hi Denise!-
Thank you for sharing!
I also like movies that are based on a true story. It does make them seem better!
LOL! There is nothing strange about loving black and white movies.

Thanks LB! My friends think I'm strange because I like the old classic films and I think my friends should give it a try to see how movies were made with the great stars. What I find interesting is that many movies made today are based on the original old classics, they just remake them.
Yes, movies based on true stories are great!! :-)

I recently saw The Glass Castle. Based on a true story...dysfunctional family (putting it lightly). I want to see that movie also!
I like Woody Harrelson as an actor. I have to wait until the movie is out for rental. I hope to remember that I wanted to see it. LOL!
I also want to see the movie, "Mother!" with Jennifer Lawerance. (sp?) I saw the previews for this movie. I have no idea what it's about, but it looks weird.

I also heard about the Glass Castle.. Plan on seeing that one! Right now I'm playing catch up with the series The Blacklist which fascinates me! Makes me wonder what "really" goes on in real life...

I LOVE the Blacklist! AND, it's returning!!! The premiere is supposed to be on Sept 27! I have also enjoyed Blindspot - it's an odd show for sure, but interesting! For something kind of silly and is a take off on Star Trek (I believe?), you need to check out The Orville. For something different (law show), we like Bull. I'm sure there are some that I've missed that we like, but here is a listing of the new and returning shows: Rotten Tomatoes Fall premieres

Yeah The Blacklist is a good show! I have my DVR set to record the new shows but I'm still on Season 3 on Netflix so I have so much catching up to do..
I really don't have lots of time being that I am a caregiver for my elderly Mom.. Busy cleaning, cooking, doing the PT exercises with my Mom, etc. And I'm still unpacking after we moved! But when things are more settled I can add more shows. I like law shows so Bull sounds good! Yeah!

Deejavu, did you move again? Or are you still getting settled after the other move? I'm so so very happy that you have your mom there with you!! I'm sure you are a very good caregiver and she is a very lucky lady to have you as a daughter! Just think of all the tv shows you will be able to watch once you sit down!!! LOL!!!!

This last move was about 4-1/2 months ago when my Mom and I bought a house that faces a large lake, really pretty! Before that I moved my Mom in with me where I was renting. Yep I'm still unpacking, decorating, etc. Today I planned on unpacking some big boxes but it's over 95 degrees in Vermont! I don't do well in the heat, give me snow!! LOL!
I'm trying the best I can as far as caregiving to my Mom. I cook her favorite foods, help her bathe, and the list goes on. It's only me so I am going to try to get my Mom to go to this Senior Center near by so she is not so bored plus I can get some time alone which I miss.
Caregiving is a full time job! I do get breaks here and there so up to this point I think I'm handling it pretty good. I'm just relieved that I'm not stressed for that "could" cause a relapse... Don't want to get sick again!
The only show I watch on TV is the Blacklist because I really want to get caught up! My bestest friend (who told me about The Blacklist) saw a movie on Netflix called Burnt and thought I would like it. Anyone see Burnt?

Good to hear that you are being mindful of the stress that's involved with care giving! I do worry about you! Check with area agency on aging or home healthcare, as they do have programs where you can have you mom go there for a day or three when you need a break or have to be out of town and things like that down here. Hopefully they have something similar in Vermont. And now I have another movie to check out! Thank you!

I finally watched Burnt and I didn't think it was that good. The main reason why I wanted to see it was because I like Bradley Cooper (especially in Silver Linings Playbook). Thus I don't recommend Burnt. Almost caught up in the Blacklist in Season 4.. I did DVR the episodes of Season 5 for when I finish Season 4. That show fascinates me because it really makes me wonder what goes on in real life behind the scenes...

Went to the theater and saw "Only the Brave"
It was really good. Based on a true story - about crew of firefighters battling a wildfire in Arizona (2013)
Bring kleenex if you decide to go.

I can't deal with movie theaters much - they are too loud and too many people for me. LOL. So we usually wait until movies are released for tv or Netflix, or Amazon or something.
I will be watching 'Only The Brave' though - as years ago, back when I was able to work, I was a waitress (Lyme & co kept me from being able to complete college) and I waited on those very hotshots that the movie is profiling. I will have to pick a day when I'm feeling emotionally strong though, as even though I don't remember them any more, those feelings are still very much there.

I'm watching In Dubious Battle on Netflix right now. So far so good. Based on a Steinback book, so I figure u can't go wrong... Also liked a A Streetcat Named Bob! Thought I was the only one who watched it ... there was another movie that reminded me of this one, but I can't remember it right now... And yes,I've seen some of 'this is us' I don't have cable , so I only see it if I go to my friends house ( she only lives 2 houses away though, & she tapes it -) so ive gotten to see several episodes . It is really well done!

Hey, in reference to my previous post- In Dubious Battle Is a really good movie - but also really Sad. I kind of expected that, (Steinback) but not that it would hit me so hard.
If you decide to watch it, just wanted everyone to know what they're getting into. Might not be the best movie for us lymies...
