Yep!! The link works! Thanks, Girlie!!!
I was told by a very kind lady that was running the mobile mammo unit in our area a while back that if they hurt you, they don't know what they are doing. There is no need to 'mash' the tissue until there is pain - uncomfortable, sure, but no pain. So, I'm not nice when they start and it causes pain!! LOL! It may be due to my hormones having never been balanced well, but every mammo I've had, with the exception of that one lady with the mobile unit have been painful. There is simply no need for that with today's technology, but I fear it will stay the same until women speak up.

Wow, that sounds so much better! I sure hope my hospital gets those soon. I was shocked to hear that 45% of women don't come back after a painful exam, but I guess I might not have if I didn't have breast cancer in my family. I'm sorry they can't just do an ultrasound on you. What a bummer. I wish they could just always skip to the ultrasound for me since I know I'm going to end up needing one every time anyway! Those new machines probably cost so much that we won't be seeing them very soon. I just know that there are now 3D ones at my doc's which are new, so they've probably shot the budget for a while.

That's what's happening in my area too - new 3D machines, but who cares if they are crushing a woman's breast tissue?? Who cares that the breast has so many nerves that are being bruised and injured due to the mishandling of that machine??? Ugh.
I'm one of the lucky ones that does not have a family history of breast cancer - or many 'female' cancers. We get the other types of cancer in both sides of my family - but I know that doesn't mean I can ignore the possibility of breast cancer either. It's just such a shame that we, as women, can't get breast cancer screenings that aren't injurious to the breast tissue and nerves - seems like a pretty basic request, if you know what I mean???
